Brentwood, N.H. Warren R. Wise Warren R. Wise, 47, of Brentwood, N.H., died suddenly March 6, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass. Mr.

Wise was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Richmond, a son of Ronald and Barbara (Richards) Wise of California. He was a 1973 graduate of Ventura High School, where he was a member of the water polo and swim teams. He then graduated from San Diego State University. Mr.

Wise flew CH53 helicopters in the U.S. Marine Corps. He went on to become a pilot for U.S. Airways for 15 years. He enjoyed swimming, volleyball and softball.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, of Brentwood, N.H.; mother, Barbara, of Ventura; father, Ronald; and brother, Ward, both of northern California. The memorial service was held March 9, at the First Unitarian Church of Exeter, N.H. Ventura Mae Johanna Marsh Mae Johanna Marsh, 79, of Ventura went to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at home with her loving family by her side, after a lengthy illness. Mae was born May 1, 1922, in Stanley, N.D., to Leonard and Tillie Fladeland. She had been a 48-year county resident coming from North Dakota in 1954.

She was a homemaker who devoted her time to the love and care of her children, grandchildren and great Mae loved walking, gardening, reading and cooking. She will be remembered for her loving warmth, good sense of humor and delicious homemade de breads. Mae will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her son, Robert Marsh of Ventura; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Wells of Ojai; daughters, Maxine Pfeiffer of Santa Barbara, Marlene Douglass of Camarillo; daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Leland Files of Ventura; son-in-law, Bruce Douglass of Camarillo; sister, Violet Sorenson of North Dakota; sisters-in-law, Laura Fladeland of Colorado, Maxine Poling of Sylmar and Dolores Fladeland of North Dakota; grandchildren, Ryan, Randy, Jeffrey and Michelle Wells, Stephanie Weaver, Travis and Sara Pfeiffer, Psalm Keifer, John and Debbie Marsh, Lisa Bullock, Kalvin Douglass, Jason Files and Amy Sloan; 21 great-grandchildren; and her special kitty, Tabitha. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marsh; and sons, Johnny and Lonnie Marsh.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home with the Rev. Marsha Martin officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mae's doctors, Dr. Robert Bernstein and Dr.

James Halvorson, as well as the caregivers at Community Memorial Hospital and hospice for their sensitivity and care during this difficult time. Sydney Berg Sydney Berg, a resident of Victorville for the past 17 years, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2002, after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

He was born in London, England, on March 12, 1926. During World War II, Sydney served with the British Army in India. He was also a certified air raid warden during the invasion of Britain. In 1962, seeking a better life, Sydney emigrated to the United States aboard the passenger liner, Queen Mary, with his wife, three children and mother-inwhere they settled in Santa Barbara. He worked 16 years for Castagnola Sea Foods in Santa Barbara, yet can be best remembered as the British bobby in the entertainment industry.

Sydney was also involved in welcoming Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, to Santa Barbara during her royal visit. While living in Santa Barbara, Sydney served as three-time past commander of the Royal Canadian Legion Post 12. After moving to the high desert, Sydney became involved with the Salvation Army Ladies Home League for his wife, Renee, and was elected as an honorary member. Sydney celebrated 50 years of marriage to his loving wife, Renee, who lost her battle with diabetes in 2000. Sydney lived life to the fullest and always would reach out to help others.

Sydney leaves behind his three loving children: daughter, Sandra of Santa Maria; sons, Adrian of Victorville and Raymond of Santa Paula; five granddaughters, Jennifer, Rebecca, Deborah, Megan and Allison; brother, John in England; and his loving friend, Kathy. "Dad, you are our inspiration, you have given us guidance, strength and direction all of our lives and you will always be in our hearts." Christopher was born Dec. 24, 1963, at St.

John's Regional Medical Center. He grew up on the Oxnard Plain, going to Britell Elementary School. Christopher was involved in Northside Little League, playing first base. Christopher also attended John C. Fremont and went on to Rio Mesa High School.

At Rio Mesa, he met the love of his life, Emily Castanon. Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Emily; sons, Christopher, Matthew, Andrew and Aaron; parents, Rudy and Mary Solis; brothers and sisters, Denise Balam, Frank Gene, Paul, George, Ida Christina (Solis) Ambriz; brother-in-law, Danny Ambriz; nephew, Michael Balam; nieces Carmelita of New York City, Lianna Ambriz; as well as in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Garcia Mortuary.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Santa Clara Church on Street in Oxnard. Burial will immediately follow. God bless Christopher. The pain we feel may heal, but our love for him is eternal.

She was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Villa Park, and had been a Ventura County resident for 50 years, coming from Anaheim, Calif. She loved fishing, anything to do with the ocean and gardening. She was a beloved mother and is survived by her daughter, Marlene Dickenson of Camarillo; son, Harold Dickenson Jr. of New York; and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in the Chapel of the Islands. Garcia Sylvia J. Garcia, 62, of Camarillo passed away March 27, 2002, at City of Hope, after a brief illness. Sylvia was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Los Angeles and had been a county resident for 33 years, coming from Lynwood, Calif. She was self-employed.

She is survived by her mother, Esther Cornell; sisters, Carolyn Gonzalez and Madelyn Coyle; brothers, Daniel Cornell and Ben Cornell; daughters, Elaine Garcia, Lynn Galan, M.D., and husband, George, and Diane Vanaman and husband, Chris; grandchildren, William Adams, Alexander and Francesca "Kiki" Galan, and Julia Filmore; and companion, John Morris. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Camarillo Community Church, with Don Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park. 3, 1940, in Oxnard, to Henry Alfred and Estelle Marie McGrath Maulhardt. Married Wanda Lee Thomson Lee on Dec. 28, 1984, in Camarillo. Hank was a fourth-generation resident of Ventura County, a descendant of Dominick and Bridget McGrath and Alfred and Augusta Maulhardt. He graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1959 and later attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in agriculture.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, four and woodworking. He was a member of the Oxnard Elks and Ventura County Sheriff's Mounted Posse. Hank farmed in Ventura County for many years and retired to Utah in 2000. He was a kind, loving man, who leaves a devoted family and many friends. Survivors include wife, Wanda Maulhardt of La Verkin, Utah; son, Terry Donald (Laura) Lee of Cedar City, Utah; brothers and sisters, Janice (Robert) Brownie of Ventura, Carol (Bill) Jacobs of Seeley Lake, Mary (Brent) Sensabaugh of Oxnard, James (Becky) Maulhardt of Green Acres, and Paul (Mary) Maulhardt of Citrus Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.

12, 1921, in Lavonia, and had been a county resident for 25 years. She resided in Miami, Long Island, N.Y., and Scottsdale, before coming to Oxnard in 1977. She was a homemaker and traveled extensively in the British Isles, Scotland and Europe. Her hobbies included art, clothing design and music. Richard is survived by his brothers, Marion and his wife, Mary Jane, and Lawrence and his wife, Alice; sisters, Mary Johnson, and Ramona and her husband, Jerry Lodi; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 12, 2002, in Vallejo as a result of lingering health problems. Leon was born April 17, 1922, in Shawnee, and at a young age moved to Oxnard, where he attended the old Haydock Grammar School. After a move to Ventura, Leon, also known as "T-Bone," attended Ventura High School, where he played center on the football team, known as the Ventura Pirates. He graduated from Ventura High School with the class of 1940. After serving his country with the U.S.

Coast Guard during World War II, he launched a career in law enforcement starting as a young officer with the Ventura Police Department in the early 1950s. He retired as of the Sheriff's substation serving all of the Victor Valley. Leon was a resident of Benecia, for 14 years and became known as an avid animal rescuer, making many friends with fellow animal lovers and their pets on the Hastings Trail in Benecia. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Benecia; brother, Melvin Ellis of Ventura; daughters, Bonnie (husband Carl) Engel of Navato and Elaine (husband Nelson) Reagan of Chula Vista; son, David (wife Caren) Ellis of Redding; nephews, Tom Ellis of Prather, Jim Ellis of Ventura; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two special dogs, Casey and Cricket. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Oxnard Nathaniel Stuckey Jr. Nathaniel Stuckey 80, a resident of Ventura County for 53 years, was called to rest early Wednesday morning, March 27, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital, after a recent illness. Stuckey was born April 7, 1921, in Arkansas, the elder son of Nathaniel Stuckey Sr. and Brimmer Nard Stuckey.

They both preceded him in death. He worked in the construction field for Labors International Local No. 585 and has been retired for approximately 30 years. He was a founding member and deacon of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Oxnard, where the pastor is the Rev. J.B.

Williams. One of his greatest joys was singing in the male chorus at church. Mr. Stuckey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arnedia Stuckey; daughter and son-in-law, Bevera A. and Willie R.

Skelton; son, Bennie E. Stuckey; granddaughters, Dionna R. SkeltonTaylor, and Shawntay G. Skelton-Tyler and husband, Christopher D. Margaret loved her family deeply and her family meant everything to her. She instilled in them the importance of "God, faith and family unit." Margaret is survived by her three sons, Manuel Pina (Beatrice) of Sacramento, Robert Pina (Jennie) of Oxnard, and Rueben Pina of Simi Valley; 12 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and two great -greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Pina, who passed away in 1980. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Conrad-Carroll Mortuary, 401 W. Channel Islands Oxnard. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Conrad-Carroll Mortuary, (805) 487-4911. Ventura G. Erlene Moore Georgie "Erlene" Moore, 80, went to join the Lord in Heaven, on March 28, 2002. Erlene was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Jay, to George and Nettie Walker.

She was raised with her sister, Alene, in Pharoh, were she attended high school. Erlene married Charles David Moore on July 2, 1940. The Moores moved to Ventura in 1949, where she remained until her death. Erlene and Charles were members of the Grace Baptist Church, where they both loved serving the Lord. Erlene worked at College Pharmacy for 23 years, where she was forced to retire due to her disease progression.

Erlene was defeated by Alzheimer's, but during her 15-year battle with the disease, she put up a valiant fight. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1980; and her sister, Alene, in 1983. She is survived by her only daughter, Diane Griffin and husband, Gary Griffin of Ventura; and her only grandson, Scott D. Griffin, who resides in Valley Glen, with his partner, Scott Haefs. Erlene leaves behind many friends and loved ones.

Her presence and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, also at the funeral home.
